A touching meditation on the competing pulls of desire and necessity.
- Review Magazine

An iconoclastic critique of corporate/social lockstep-ism.
Hints at the bigger question of what makes life relevant

and gently asks,"Where is your right and natural place?"
- Kurt Steiner (Guinness World Record for most consecutive skips of a stone)

Don't worry if it becomes difficult to tell what to take
seriously and what to laugh at in Skippers, that is the point.
- Reel Chicago

The film's ensemble cast is admirably up for
Wertheimer's weird mix of humor, sentimentality and Zen.
- The Independent Critic

Beyond the humor, there are some surprisingly emotional scenes.
- Delta Collegiate

Excellent performances from its cast...
great shots of a small town and of stone skipping.
- Film Threat

Wertheimer gets very good performances from his lead cast members.
He takes a lot of risks in creating understated, off-beat weirdos.
- Movies and Shakers

I laughed so hard it hurt at points... It's so delightful
seeing something totally random, with such a unique voice.
- Dan Schechter (writer/director, Supporting Characters)

Skippers is my second feature film, an intense and offbeat comedy melodrama, and probably the best narrative stone skipping film ever made. It was shot in beautiful Bay City, Michigan, in the fall of 2016, and premiered in 2018.

Synopsis

A mysterious drifter breathes new life into a small town by teaching the Zen of stone skipping. But when he gets too close to the sister of a powerful local, stones might not be the only thing sinking in the river.
